Upset with new phone books

We have just received our new phone books.

How many people realize that the numbers for your friends and relatives who live outside Brantford, ie. Simcoe, Ingersoll, Woodstock, are not listed? You'd better keep last year's directory for that information.

Bell Canada, this is not good enough. I, for one, do not need hundreds of Yellow Pages or other pages with all kinds of information that does not relate to your service.

While airing my grievance I may as well add that it has become increasingly annoying when phoning a business to be put on hold, press this or that, subjected to loud music, at the end of which you may get a real person -- probably from some far-off country.

Mr. A.G. Bell must be shaking his head -- frustrated or amazed?

Stop littering

It's incredible that so many in our community are unaware of what litter is.

Believe it or not, items discarded onto our street and trails are still litter, even if they are smaller than a television set. Coffee cups. Beer cans and bottles. Pop cans.

Even that candy wrapper that you cannot be bothered to hold onto for a few minutes is litter. And the dog poop that you so lovingly bagged is still litter, even if you hang it in trees or toss it into the bushes.

Many actually do not realize that when you hide that bag or your coffee cup behind a large tree while trail walking, it is still litter whether others can easily see it or not.

Litter isn't just unsightly. Any litter can be deadly to wildlife. Getting cut, getting caught or ingesting it. Most trail users show responsibility. It's time that those others showed some respect to other users and especially, respect to the wild.

There are cans placed at entrances. If your able to walk in, your obviously

able to carry it out.

Great soccer coverage

In recent years I have been a strong critic of The Expositor because of its lack of interest and coverage of soccer.

However, Brantford now has its own professional team and The Expositor has supported the team.

My main reason to write this letter is to thank The Expositor for their coverage of the World Cup. I looked forward to every article and read them with much interest.

Form your own opinion

For the last little while, I have been hearing various political pundits say that the message of the Conservatives is identical to the dogmas of the Libertarian Party of Canada.

I decided to check out the Libertarians on their web page.

I have to admit that the dogmas closely resemble some of the Conservative ideals, and especially on social issues and the like.

However, I cannot agree with the analogy that the Conservatives are Libertarians. It's like saying that the NDP are communists, because they support sharing the wealth of the country equitably.

I do believe that the readers should check the Libertarians website and form their own opinions on this. Political propaganda is rampant in Canada right now and the voters should form their own opinions with research and quiet reflection.
